LIMESTONE — For residents of Aroostook County needing a Department of Defense identity card, there is now only one local provider.
Beginning in October 2012, the Defense Finance and Accounting Service Limestone, located on the Loring Commerce Centre, became the only facility within The County to continue to offer official ID card services to Department of Defense military and civilian members, active duty military members’ dependents and military retirees and their dependents. Previously the Caribou Army Reserve/Guard Unit also issued ID cards.
DFAS Limestone continues to provide this important service because it is the only entity in Aroostook County to have the capability through the Defense Enrollment and Eligibility Report System and Real-Time Automated Personnel Identification System program management equipment.
Identity card services are available from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, by appointment only. Residents needing new or renewed cards may contact the DFAS Limestone Security Office at (207) 328-1116 to make an appointment.
