Cousins, Stewart M., 75, of Caribou, on January 1, 2013.  Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of the Mockler Funeral Home, Caribou.


AR Stewart CousinsAmerican Flag ColorCaribou — Stewart M. Cousins, 75, died January 1, 2013, at Van Buren after a brief illness. He was born in Caribou February 13, 1937, the son of the late Louis and Mildred (Matthews) Cousins. He was a 1955 graduate of Caribou High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Husson. He served with the US Air Force and was a lifetime member of the Caribou United Baptist Church. He married Harriett (Emery) Cousins and she predeceased him in 2005. Mr. Cousins was a retired educator with the Caribou School Department, having taught business classes at Caribou High School for over 33 years. He was a member of the Caribou Historical Society and the Maine Teachers Association. Stewart was a loving husband and father and truly enjoyed spending time with his family at their camp at Cross Lake.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Lewis and Kim Cousins of Woodland; one daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and Dale Chamberland of St. Agatha; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Donald and Helen Cousins of Vermont, Ralph Cousins of Millinocket and Carroll Cousins of Lubec; one brother-in-law, Albert “Wes” Parlee of Orrington; six grandchildren, Ryan and Shelby Cousins and Robbie, Kevin, Matthew and Joshua Chamberland; one great-grandchild, Vance; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Cousins was predeceased by a son, Leigh; a daughter-in-law, Tina; and two grandchildren, Cortina and Cody.

Friends called at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou 6-8 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Friday, January 4, 2013, from the Caribou United Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.
