8th-grade boys wrap up season

The Caribou Middle School eighth-grade boys’ basketball team finished with a 10-3 record, closing things out with two victories in its last three games.

Caribou bested Madawaska on Dec. 12, 54-13, behind a balanced offensive attack. Connor Plourde and Noah Frost had 10 points each and Dominick Judd added eight more for the winners. Noah Heidorn, Nick Allen and Dawson Hebert tallied six points apiece, while Seth Beidelman and Bailey Griffeth both played well in the victory.

Judd scored 20 points and Josiah Krul had 16, but Caribou fell to Houlton on Dec. 13, 52-43. Zach Wright and Matt Nadeau had solid defensive efforts for the Vikings.

Caribou downed Presque Isle on Dec. 18, 47-30, to end its campaign. The Vikings’ pressure defense was too much for the Wildcats to handle. Krul scored 16 points, while Nick Allen had 11 and Judd 10.

Judd ended up as the Vikes’ leading scorer with 174 points, followed by Krul with 131 and Allen with 103. Judd, Krul and Nadeau were the team’s top rebounders and Allen and Hebert had the most three-point field goals with seven and five, respectively. Plourde was the best foul shooter at a 63-percent clip.
