Chester is approximately 8 to 10 months old and living at the Halfway Home Pet Rescue in Caribou. Chester was found on the side of the road between Lyndon St. and Sleeper’s Store. Chester was not able to walk because of a very damaged left front leg. The man who found Chester brought him into his apartment and called the shelter, and shelter officials immediately took Chester to the vet. X-rays revealed that the leg was so badly damaged from old and terribly infected bite wounds that it could not be saved. Two days after having his front left leg amputated, Chester was out and running around. “We had to take turns restraining him to a cage so that he would not overdo his activity,” HHPR President Norma Milton explained. “The sound of a can of food being opened brings him at a full gallop to be first at the dinner plates,” she added. Chester’s adoption fee is $25.
