LIMESTONE — The Limestone Recreation Department will offer a variety of activities for community members to participate in during the upcoming Holiday break. Most of the activities are available at no charge to Limestone and Caswell residents; however a few have a small fee in order to participate.

On Wednesday, Dec. 26 and Thursday, Dec. 27, the pool at the Limestone Community School will be open from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. for open swim. A certified lifeguard will be on duty at all times and there is no fee for Limestone and Caswell residents to participate. Non-residents must pay a fee of $2 per person, $3 per couple, or $5 per family to swim.

Also on December 27, Limestone and Caswell residents are invited to travel to the Forum in Presque Isle for indoor skating from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. with officials of the Limestone Recreation Department.  The bus will depart the Limestone Community School at 12:15 p.m. and there is a $5 participation fee for this activity, which includes the cost of skate rentals.

The Recreation Department will take a trip to the Melody Lane Roller Skating Rink in Caribou on Friday, Dec. 28 and will skate from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The bus will depart from the Limestone Community School at 12:30 p.m. and there is a $5 participation fee for this activity, which includes the cost of skate rentals.

In addition to these out-of-town activities, the Limestone Recreation Department invites Limestone and Caswell residents to stop in at the Recreation Center located in the Limestone Community School where they can play Nintendo Wii games, pool, foos ball, air hockey, ping pong, and participate in arts and crafts. All of these activities are free and open to Limestone and Caswell residents. Non-residents can pay a $1 participation fee to take part in Recreation Center activities. The Recreation Center’s schedule for the Holiday break is as follows: from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Dec. 26; from 8 a.m. until noon on Dec. 27 and Dec. 28.

To participate in out-of-town activities or to swim in the Recreation Pool, participants must turn in participation waivers to Limestone’s Director of Parks and Recreation prior to participation and must pre-register with the Recreation Department. Individuals will not be allowed to participate or go on the trips without a signed waiver and appropriate participation fees. Waivers are available at the Recreation Center.
