• Miss Ottie Gammon is at work in the studio of F. S. Smith, Main Street.
• Saturday morning, H. S. Hardison left his horse standing in front of the Republican office. The animal became frightened at the noise of an approaching team and started to run, leaving the wagon at a hitching post in front of Dr. Porter’s residence. It was finally caught near Collins’ saw mill.
100 Years Ago-Nov. 21, 1912
Washburn news — Mr. and Mrs. W. R. McDougall of Washburn, formerly of Caribou, were in town Monday, Mr. McDougall has his new hotel nearly completed and ready for occupancy. This will prove a decided advantage to our sister town, which is just now experiencing quite a boom.
The latest in transportation — Shaw & Mitton company of Caribou is advertising “A new lot of Pungs” for sale in this week’s advertisement, with “quality, workmanship, and prices guaranteed; all made in Maine.” Customers are encouraged also view their large line of stable and street blankets, robes, etc.

Ice skating rink expanded — The building of a new skating rink, the largest in Caribou’s history, eleven laps to the mile, is being sponsored by the Caribou Winter Carnival and the Aroostook Sportsmen’s Show. The new rink will be reserved each day from four until five o’clock for the use of the high school team.
Aroostook semi-pro basketball — Hal Cheney, late of the Mansfield O baseball team, will be seen in a local basketball suit this winter as a member of the Presque Isle Indians, a semi-pro hoop outfit. The local youth can perform as well on the polished court as he can out there on the diamond.

Thanksgiving activities — Members of the Catholic Youth Organization voted to donate a bag of fruits to each patient in the local hospital on Thanksgiving Day. A Thanksgiving Eve service will be held Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. Faith Lutheran Church with the Rev. Richard L. Erickson presiding.
Civil Defense — The Caribou Town Council has scheduled a hearing for the purpose of adopting an ordinance on continuity of local government in the event of enemy attack, as recommended by State Civil Defense Director Leslie H. Stanley.

Gasoline price decline — AAA Maine recently reported that gasoline prices throughout the state are beginning their traditional winter decline. According to their latest survey of gasoline prices and availability in Maine, the average price of regular gasoline is $1.01.8 per gallon; unleaded averages $1.06.3 per gallon; and premium unleaded averages $1.18.8 per gallon.
