All-conference and all-academic teams announced
The Penobscot Valley Conference has announced its all-conference teams for the fall sports season, and several Caribou athletes are included.
The league’s all-academic selections have also been announced in cross country, soccer and golf.
In cross country, Caribou’s Robyn Larrabee, Nerissa Larrabee and Chelsea Bard made the girls’ large school first team. They were joined by Aleta Looker of Ellsworth, Adrienne Carmack of John Bapst; and Maggie Painter, Waylon Henggeler, Olivia Erickson, Isabel Erickson and Caroline Driscoll, all of Mount Desert Island.
Vikings’ Mackenzie Deveau and Chelsea Haney earned berths on the second team. Others were Adrianna Fish, Mark Kashkooli, Jade Decker and Amanda Richard, all of John Bapst; Presque Isle’s Mandy Graham and Emily Colligan and Rebecca Planchart of MDI and Meagan Zapsky of Hermon.
Members of the boys’ first team are Caribou’s Ron Lund and Brendan Cyr, along with Dan Curts, Robert Looker, Brayden Beardsley and Frank King, all of Ellsworth; Connor Wagner and Matt Spear of John Bapst, Jordan Harris of MDI and Alexander Peterson of Hermon.
The second team consisted of Ryan Washington of Caribou, Rylan Norris and Mike Tormey of John Bapst, Josh Zapsky of Hermon, Andrew Cox of Washington Academy, Kody Holmes of Ellsworth; and Will Richard, Ransom Burgess, Ralph Magnani and Ethan Craigo, all of MDI.
Cross country runners from the region making the all-academic team were Caribou’s Mackenzie Belyea, Alexis McCrossin, Ashley Richards, Bard and Lund.
The Class B girls’ soccer all-conference teams were also announced. Making the first team were Caribou’s Olivia Sleeper and Presque Isle’s Chandler Guerrette, Karlee Bernier and Megan Ireland. Others selected were Kaitlin Saulter of Hermon, who was also the player of the year, Jessica Allen and Amanda Allen, also for Hermon; Opel Curless and Hannah Shaw of MDI, Kaiti Kinney of Ellsworth and Casey McGwire of John Bapst.

The Vikings’ Sarah Doak and Katelynn Tardie made the second team, along with Rachel Martin and Kelsey Maxim of Old Town, Claire Petersen and Mollie Roy of Hermon, Summer Cast of MDI, MacKenzie Hayman of John Bapst; and Katey Curtis, Emily Berry and Cristin Wright, all of Ellsworth.
Meredith Stewart of Presque Isle received honorable mention along with Sarah Hobbs of Foxcroft Academy, Kelsey Hesseltine of Old Town and Breana Riquier of Washington Academy.
Ralph Michaud of Presque Isle shared coach of the year honors with MDI’s Tom Savage. PI won the team championship and Hermon was runner-up.
On the boys’ side, first-team choices included Caribou’s Dean Walker, Nolan McDuffie and Matt Milliard and Presque Isle’s Jonah Stephenson. Others on the first team are player of the year Josh Bean, Jeff Weeks and Maks Grover, all of Ellsworth; Matt Melanson of Old Town, Audyn Curless of MDI, Nick Carle of Hermon and Adam Strang of John Bapst.
Caribou’s Cody Herbert and PI’s Ben Nickerson and Colin McKay made the second team along with Jack Weeks and Steve Mahon of Ellsworth, Braden Sickles of John Bapst, Alex Pelletier and Jared Cox of Hermon, Chris Clemens of MDI, Garvey Melmed and Rodrigo Zertuchi of Old Town.
Sean Barbosa of Caribou, Dewey Sheehan of Washington Academy and Josiah Simko of John Bapst made honorable mention.
Caribou’s Scott Hunter and Ellsworth’s Brian Higgins were the co-coaches of the year. Ellsworth captured the team title and Caribou was the runner-up.
Caribou soccer players on the all-academic team are Regan Buck, Kelsie Espling, Haley Hunter, Hannah Hebert, Ginger Kieffer, Alexa Massey, Nicholas Matlock, Reanna Plourde, Alissa Randolph, Meredith Sleeper, Olivia Sleeper and Kendra Stephens.
Presque Isle golfers making the Class B boys’ all-conference squad were Adam Flynn, Mike Boone and Karson Eaton. Those representing other league schools were Ben Walls and Kyle McKim of MDI, Nick Garfield of Mattanawcook Academy in Lincoln, Hazen Dauphinee and Garrett Libby of Old Town, Liam Porter and Tyler Thayer of Hermon, Colby Snell and Luke Olson of Foxcroft Academy; and Mitchell Stewart, Joe Archambault, Evan Pelkey and Colby Kohn, all of John Bapst.
Jenna Hallett of Presque Isle highlighted the girls’ all-conference team and was joined by Ali Prescott of Fort Kent, Morgan Kelley of MDI, Rica Barloso of Searsport and Sydnie Howard of Bucksport.
