One 2-year-old male cat at the Halfway Home Pet Rescue has been so handsome, so charismatic and so confident in his own abilities that he’s become known to volunteers as “The Donald.” Volunteers say that “The Donald” loves to play to media attention and to any good-looking feline female. “Donald actually allows neighboring feline, Priscilla, to reach across and into his food dish to taste his food to see if it compares with hers,” described HHPR President Norma Milton. “The Donald” has been leukemia/AIDS tested, neutered, and received his distemper and rabies vaccinations as well as parasite prevention treatment. His adoption fee is $25. Volunteers thanked members of the community who have contributed to the rescue’s various ongoing recycling fundraisers — shoes, ink cartridges and bottles/cans. Their new location at 489 South Main Street is open by appointment only for adoptions, aside from their weekly open hours on Saturdays from noon until 3 p.m. Additional information can be obtained by calling 492-1722 or visiting www.halfwayhomepetrescue.org.
