Various events have been scheduled in the region to mark the Veterans Day holiday. They include:
• On Thursday, Nov. 8 at 1 p.m., the New Sweden School, located at 113 Westmanland Rd. in New Sweden, will be holding an assembly featuring a presentation from the Stockholm American Legion and a musical performance from New Sweden School students. All are welcome to attend.
• On Sunday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m., a ceremony will be conducted at the Northern Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, located at 37 Lombard Rd. in Caribou. The ceremony will feature guest speakers, a wreath-laying exercise and a 21-gun salute. All are welcome to attend.
• On Sunday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. a ceremony hosted by the American Legion Henry B. Pratt Jr. Post 15 members and its Auxiliary will be conducted at the monument in front of the Caribou Fire Station on High St. Coffee and donuts will be served at the American Legion Post on Sweden St. prior to and after the ceremony. All are welcome to attend.
• On Sunday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. the Loring Job Corps Honor Guard will be posting colors in the multipurpose room at the Maine Veterans’ Home located at Cary Medical Center in Caribou. All are welcome to attend.
