CARIBOU — A fire truck with its lights flashing in front of an elementary school would usually be cause for alarm, but that was not the case when Caribou Firefighter Scott Jackson pulled Ladder Truck No. 3 into Teague Park School’s driveway on the morning of Oct. 24.

A crowd of students had gathered to greet the truck and cheered as two of the school’s students climbed out of the cab.
Third-grader Avery Knowles and fourth-grader Dakota Yakel were awarded a ride to school in the humongous bright red chariot after winning a poster contest held at the school for National Fire Prevention Week.
“Dakota was excited for a week!” Yakel’s proud mother, Danielle Lombard, said after he was dropped off. “He couldn’t wait.”
National Fire Prevention Week was Oct. 7-13. The poster contest was held for third- and fourth-graders with a winner from each grade selected.
