With just a couple weeks remaining before the playoffs begin, the Heal Point standings in girls and boys soccer are gaining significance.
In Eastern Maine Class B, the Caribou girls are unbeaten in their last six contests and took a 7-2-1 record into yesterday’s huge contest against the 8-1 and third-ranked Hermon Hawks in Hermon.
The Vikings currently sit in fifth place in the division. Caribou tied Mount Desert Island, 1-1, at home Saturday.
Olivia Sleeper scored the Viking goal.
Last Tuesday, Caribou got past John Bapst, 3-0, in Bangor.
The Caribou boys sit in sixth place with their 5-3-1 mark. The Vikings continued its fine play with a 4-1 victory over Mount Desert Island.
Cody Herbert, Kameron Manter, Sean Barbosa and Matt Milliard each scored a goal in the victory, while goalkeeper Matt Manter had eight saves on 12 shots.
The Vikes defeated John Bapst last Wednesday in Bangor, 3-0.
In girls’ Class D standings, Washburn leads the way with its 9-1-1 record. Fort Fairfield is ranked third at 7-2-2 and Limestone-MSSM in 14th at 3-7.
The Beavers haven’t played since Sept. 18 and will resume their schedule Oct. 11 with a home match against Van Buren.
Fort Fairfield defeated Limestone-MSSM last Tuesday, 2-0, behind Janae Libby’s two goals. The Tigers will battle Central Aroostook next Tuesday in their next match, while Limestone-MSSM travels to St. Agatha to play Wisdom that same afternoon.
In Class D boys, Washburn is in sixth place at 5-4-2. The Beavers have been off since Sept. 18 and will next be in action Oct. 11 at home against Van Buren.
Fort Fairfield tied Limestone-MSSM last Tuesday, 1-1. The Eagles are in 14th place with a 3-6-1 record and Fort is in 16th at 2-8-1.
The Tigers play in Mars Hill Tuesday against Central Aroostook, while the Eagles take on No. 1 Wisdom in St. Agatha, also next Tuesday.
