The Caribou Middle School boys soccer team fell behind 1-0, but scored a pair of first-half goals and another after intermission to defeat Fort Fairfield Aug. 28, 3-1, in its season-opening match.

Josiah Krul scored all three of his team’s goals, with Noah Frost picking up an assist. The Viking defense was led by Bailey Griffeth, Noah Heidorn, Dominick Judd and Nic Sleeper.

Also turning in solid performances for Caribou were Camden Huck, Alex Ezzy and Cole Jackson.

On Sept. 4 and Sept. 6, Caribou played back-to-back matches against Fort Kent and won both by scores of 5-2 and 6-1.

In the first meeting, Krul notched a hat trick and Dawson Hebert and Heidorn had the other goals. Ezzy, Jackson, Dylan Bonville and Heidorn picked up assists and Judd, Griffeth, Sleeper and Huck were the defensive standouts. Noah Frost played well in goal and Spencer McDuffie and Theo Strid both had fine games.

In the next match between the two squads, Krul turned in the most dominant performance coach Steve Perreault has seen in his many years of coaching. Krul scored all five of his goals in the first half while assisting on another goal by Jackson.

Ezzy and Evan Mechalko had assists and Judd and Sleeper paced the defense. Seth Roy and Kyle Boucher were others cited by Perreault for their strong all-around play.
