Ashland man wins bike

Fred Howes, left, of Ashland was recently announced the winner of the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots raffle for a 2012 Harley Davidson 883 Sportster. Northern Aroostook Toys for Tots Coordinator Rudolph St. Peter met with Howes on Sept. 4 at Plourde and Plourde in Caribou to redeem the ticket and see the new bike. Howe was the first prize winner of the raffle. The second prize raffle winners were Taryn and Ben Everett of Mapleton, who won $300. Third-prize winner Steven Jordan of Easton took his winnings of $150 and donated them back to Toys for Tots. Collection of toys and donations will officially begin on Monday, Oct. 1, “So please, when you see our donation cans and toy collection receptacles, remember our needy children this Christmas,” said St. Peter. “We would like to put a smile on their face and laughter in their hearts this Christmas.” Tickets are being sold for a 2012 Polaris 550cc snowmobile, with proceeds being used to purchase toys for northern community children. The winner will be drawn on Saturday, Dec. 1 at the “Parade of Lights” in Presque Isle.
