Northern Aroostook County Marine Corps Reserve Motorcycle Ride officials are holding their first Toys for Tots Ride on Sunday, Sept. 2.
The 169-mile ride will start at the Madawaska Legion at 9 a.m. and travel through Frenchville, Fort Kent, Eagle Lake, Portage Lake, stopping for lunch at the Aroostook Fish and Game Club in Ashland, then traveling through Mapleton, Presque Isle, Westfield, Easton, and stopping at Boondock’s in Fort Fairfield before traveling back up north through Limestone and Van Buren, with their final destination at the Bicentennial Park in Madawaska around 5 p.m.
Activities following the ride for the night include music in the park, a beer tent and food venders from 5 until 10 p.m. at the Bicentennial Park in Madawaska.
The drawing of the raffle tickets for the 2012 883 Sportster, $300 cash, and $150 cash will take place on Monday, Sept. 3 at the Bicentennial Park in Madawaska at 2 p.m.
Toys and/or cash donations for the Northern Aroostook County Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program will be picked up at each stop along the ride at the following locations: Madawaska, American Legion; Frenchville, American Legion; Fort Kent, American Legion; Eagle Lake, American Legion; Dean’s Restaurant, Portage Lake; the Aroostook Fish and Game club, Ashland; Mike’s IGA, Easton; Boondock’s Restaurant in Fort Fairfield; Limestone Fire Station; Hospitality Inn in Van Buren; and at the Bicentennial Park in Madawaska.
The event is sponsored by Plourde and Plourde, Frederick’s Southside, and the Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home, all of Caribou; Scott Martin Farm in Connor, the Irish Setter Pub of Presque Isle, Suntree Farm Market of Easton, Smith Farms of Mars Hill, Pelletier Ford of Fort Kent, Rosette’s Restaurant of Frenchville, and the American Legion Riders of Madawaska.
The even will also be held with the assistance of the County Patriot Young Marines, based out of Presque Isle, who also created the Toys for Tots parade float this year.
