The Caribou Area Chamber of Commerce (CACC) is sponsoring Walker Brothers International Circus 2012 tour. The event is being held on Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 1-2 with two shows per day at Teague Park. This event is to support Caribou Cares About Kids.
The 90-minute show will offer something for everyone. It will be held under the big top, reminiscent of the circus productions of years past. Back in the 1970s the circus was always held in Caribou and now Caribou would like to bring it back.
Walker International Events, Inc. brings an all-star studded lineup, beginning with the award-winning master of ceremonies, Brian LaPalme. Making their debut with International Events, the Alverez Family is North America’s premier tumbling, twisting titans of the Teeter Board. Their prima ballerina of the air, Miss Claudia, will astound viewers with her aerial artistry. Also, direct from south of the border, will be the comedic musical mayhem of Orlandito, the Clown.
John Walker, Jr. has grown up in the circus. His parents taught him all facets of running and owning a circus. He comes from four generations of dedication, perseverance and plain old elbow grease. He has been both an exotic animal trainer and performer for some of the most renowned animal acts in show business.
Catia Meluzzi comes from a family of performers and is widely noted as the first family to perform the “human cannonball.” Meluzzi’s grandfather built the first human cannonball cannon. Her mother was the first woman to be shot out of the cannon at the tender age of 16. Walker and Meluzzi have been life partners for almost 25 years.
Each show brings its own brand of history and accomplishment to the 90-minute show. Meluzzi is an accomplished aerialist and has worked right alongside of Walker, with the various animals he has trained. Her daughter follows in her mother’s footsteps and is an accomplished equestrienne.
The circus will include breathtaking acts such as aerialists, acrobatics, magic, and plenty of comedy with the captivating clowns. The CACC promises a lifetime of memories for all who attend. To make this event affordable for the whole family to enjoy the price to attend is one adult paid admission that will allow two children to attend free. Each ticket is $12 in advance and can be purchased at CACC at 657 Main Street at their new location. Tickets at the door are $15.
Children’s tickets can be found at local businesses. All children must have an adult accompany them. For more information call 498-6156 or visit the circus’ website at www.walkerinternationalevents.com.
