Staff members and students at the Adult Multiple Alternative Center of Caribou, representing gifted and challenged individuals, held the facility’s 11th annual western-themed dance at the Lister/Knowlton VFW on May 19. An estimated 200 adults, caregivers, family members and friends, representing many different organizations and facilities in Aroostook County were in attendance.
The Lister/Knowlton VFW was decorated in a country and western motif complete with horse saddles and bales of hay, which also served as the perfect backdrop for photos taken during the evening.
Entertainment for the annual event was provided by “Sound Friendship” featuring Lela Lyons and friends. Pierre and Sherri Dumont served as official event photographers, capturing participants dressed in their authentic country and western attire.
Refreshments, a wide array of homemade delicacies, were catered by Marie Thibeault and Linda Dickinson.
AMAC board member Janice St. Peter offered special thanks to the VFW Post 9389 and the following other board members and volunteers for making this “special night” such a huge success: Patrick Bennett, Bonnie Pack, Mary Kirkpatrick, Mike Quinlan, Sean Duplissie, Brandi Makepeace and Lynn Murphy, AMAC executive director. Also the adults of AMAC Center, sponsor of the dance, volunteers from the St. Peter and Anderson families and Russ Gagnon, contributor.
