CARIBOU – Roger Pelkey, 75, passed away unexpectedly on May 13, 2012, at his home in Caribou. Roger was born in Limestone, the son of William and Edith (Hurd) Pelkey.
Roger loved farming. He enjoyed and was very well known for growing and selling potatoes from his home on the Fort Fairfield Road. He loved to buy and sell almost anything, and he seemed to always have something for sale. He took great care and was very particular in maintaining his special interest cars. Roger was employed by Maine Bag Company, Eastern Maine Starch Factory, and R.W. Wight over the years. He worked for Cary Medical Center until his retirement in 2000 after 31 years of service.
Roger is survived by his wife, Jeannette (Cote) Pelkey; his children, Ricky and his wife, Lisa Pelkey of Caribou, Tammy White of West Lebanon and Farren Pelkey of South Portland; his siblings, Norma Guthrie of Caribou, Mary Lou and her husband, Tom Conlin of Holbrook, MA, and James and his wife, Angela Pelkey of Limestone. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Chelsea White, Dustin and his wife, Nicole White, Danielle Pelkey, Courtney; and his great granddaughter, Merrick; as well as, many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Roger was predeceased by his first wife, Elaine (Cyr) Pelkey; his brothers, Robert (Manny), Patrick (Weese), David; his sister, Cecile; and his daughter-in-law, Kathy Pelkey.
Family and friends may call on Thursday, May 17 from 6-8 p.m. at Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home, with vigil prayers at 5:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Parish of the Precious Blood, Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Caribou at 1 p.m. on Friday, with the Very Reverend Jean Paul Labrie. Hospitality will follow in the Parish Hall. There will be a private interment at the Old Holy Rosary Cemetery in Caribou.
