CHS winter athletes receive accolades at awards ceremony

CARIBOU — Caribou High School has saluted its winter athletes with an awards ceremony held on March 5.

The Caribou 5-6 grade boys AYBL travel team participated in the Old Town YMCA Tournament the weekend of March 16-17. The team was undefeated, 6-0, and won the championship of the tournament. MVP honors were handed out for JV and varsity sports to: Caleb Chapman and Ashley Richards, Nordic skiing; Dean Walker and Ginger Kieffer, Alpine skiing; Chad Caverhill, boys’ varsity basketball; Adam Collins, boys’ JV basketball; Alexa Massey, girls’ varsity basketball; Clara Collins, girls’ JV basketball; and Deion Caudill, varsity wrestling.

Kieffer was also presented a Letter sweater for wining a total of seven varsity letters.

For varsity cheerleading, coach Brandi Makepeace presented letters to Chaya Karunasiri Patteson, Emma Jandreau, Mariella Marte, Sage Gehrig and Danielle Chase. Plaques were given to Melanie Biggs, Mariesa Sarmiento and Becca Malm. Jamie St. Peter, Jenny Blaisdell, Brianna Marte and Jessica Devoe were awarded trophies and jackets were presented to Natasha Bishop Karina and Elsa Thibodeau.

Coaches Marie Beckum and Andrea Swanberg handed out the Alpine skiing awards. Receiving certificates were Nolan Powers, Kyle Tibbetts, Dylan Greenier, Devin Cyr, Sara Huston and Danielle Greenier. Letters were bestowed to Austin Caverhill, Connor Thibeault, Alex Hodsdon, Matt Frost, Tyler Strid, manager Lucas Kinney and Katie Plourde. Nolan McDuffie, Walker, Courtney Burby and Regan Buck were presented plaques and Kieffer a trophy.

For Nordic skiing, coaches PJ Gourneault and Evan Graves passed out JV certificates to Tyler Strid, Keight Draper, Graham Freme, Alex Murchison, Sirena Cyr and Angelita Hernandez. JV letters were presented to Dylan Coty, Dustin Coty, Lauren Chapman, Nerissa Larrabee, Robyn Larrabee, Elise Gudde, Kaitlyn Ring, Renee Dube and Mackenzie Deveau. Earning varsity recognition were Brendan Cyr, Ron Lund, Marc Sturzl, Michael Marquis, Olivia Sleeper, Sarah Doak, Sam Murchison and Kelly Kashian. Earning a plaque were Ryan Washington, Josh Kovach, Kjetil Rossignol and Mackenzie Belyea. Chelsea Bard, Richards, Kendra Stephens, Merideth Sleeper and Kieffer received trophies. Jesse Sandstrom, Chapman and Plourde received jackets.

Rachel Wasson earned a trophy for swimming.

JV boys’ basketball coach Shawn Manter presented certificates to Mitchell St. Peter and Taylor Miller. Earning letters were Dustin Bouchard, Colby Holdsworth, Caleb Corriveau, Matt Curry, Dylan Berkoski, Carter Chabot, Caleb Findlen, Austin Griffeth, Adam Collins, Nathan Wall, Alex Searles and manager Erin Patten.

Boys’ varsity basketball coach Chris Casavant and assistant coach Bill Casavant presented certificates to Devin Berkoski, Kameron Manter, Taylor Thibodeau and Nick Whitehead. Earning letters were Nick Pucci, Derek Richardson, Dayne Savage, Breen Blackstone, Cody Herbert and managers Sammy Camy, Alana Sirois, Briana Rossignol and Mallorie Cyr. Matthew Milliard was presented a plaque and Caverhill was awarded a jacket.

Girls’ JV basketball coach Andrew Kirby handed out certificates to Makayla Bouchard, Rebecca Page and Madison Yakel. Letters were presented to Reanna Plourde, Kelsie Espling, Clara Collins, Emilee Susi, Allisa Irving, Morgan Outing, Abigail Theriault, Nicole McHattie, Brooke St. Peter and managers Jessica Rowland and Jasmine Hooey.

For girls’ varsity basketball, coach Ryan Deprey and assistant coach Charles Harris presented certificates to Ashley St. Peter and Shyanne Barnes. Tia McHatten, Delaney Williams, Annie Collins, Anesha Hersey and managers Madison Doody and Nicole Wickstrom were awarded letters. Katie Keaton, Rebecca McDougal, Katelynn Tardie and Paige Small earned plaques. Receiving trophies were Jamie Martin and Massey.

Coach James (Chico) Hernandez and assistant coach Susan Plissey handed out wrestling certificates to Tom McLean and Aaron Simon. Rebecca King, Robert Caudill, Matt Manter and D.J. Pizutti earned letters. Plaques went to Danny Powers and Jacob Bither. Trophies were presented to Brendan Wood, Mike Selander, Morgan Swan, Colby Conroy and manager Chelsea Martin. D. Caudill was awarded a jacket.
