Palmer, Rev. John W., 83, of Washburn, in Presque Isle, on March 13, 2012. Interment will be in the Crouseville Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Mockler Funeral Home, Caribou.


ARSH John PalmerWashburn — Rev. John W. Palmer, 83, went home to be with his Lord and Savior March 13, 2012, at Presque Isle surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born in Exeter November 27, 1928, the son of the late Lester and Vera (Simpson) Palmer. He attended the Exeter schools and was a graduate of the Corinna Union Academy. He was also a graduate of Zion Bible Institute, where he received his pastorate degree. Rev. Palmer was an accomplished carpenter, having built two homes and two churches. He was also employed at Moosehead Furniture and also served as a building inspector for Maine Building Systems. He began a long career in the ministry when he pastored the Bethel Holiness Church in Monson for seven years and the Madawaska Bridge Church in Caribou for fourteen years. He then founded, built and pastored the Carson Road Pentecostal Church, where he served for over 30 years. He married Elizabeth “Betty” (Churchill) Palmer and she predeceased him in 1989.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Terry Palmer of Presque Isle and Pastor Matt and Katherine Palmer of Washburn; one sister, Evelyn Lawrence of Pittsfield; one brother, Carl Palmer and his wife, Lorraine of Exeter; his grandchildren, Marisa Borden, Peter and Amanda Palmer, Amber Tierney and Rachel Palmer; two great-grandchildren, Ezekiel Tierney and Haley Borden; a special family friend, Sharlene Williams; many nieces and nephews. He as predeceased by a sister, Edith Stone and her husband, Lee.

Friends called at the Carson Road Pentecostal Church, 12 noon Friday, March 16, 2012, until time of services. Funeral services were held 2 p.m. with the Rev. Andy DeRier officiating. Interment will be in the Crouseville Cemetery. Friends who wish to contribute in memory of Rev. Palmer may do so through Carson Pentecostal Church Memorial Fund.
