Officials with  Eastern Aroostook RSU 39 will be holding a very important registration night for all Caribou and Limestone parents/guardians of students entering pre-K in the fall. The pre-K enrollment is on a first come, first serve basis for the 2012-13 school year. This Registration Night is also for parents of kindergarten students who are not presently enrolled in school.

The parent meetings will be held on the following dates:

• Tuesday, April 3, 6 p.m. in the cafeteria at the Hilltop Elementary School for Caribou residents.

• Wednesday, April 11, at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria at the Limestone Community School for Limestone residents.

These meetings are for parents/guardians only (children will not be screened at this time). During the meeting there will be a brief presentation by school staff regarding the education. Parents/guardians will have two opportunities to register.

Parents/guardians may complete the registration packet the evening of the parent meeting with the understanding that all of the following documents are presented.

• Birth certificate of the child to be registered (hospital certificates are not acceptable) as mandated by state law.

• Copy of immunizations (obtained from a medical providers office) as mandated by state law. Immunizations required by the start of the 2012-13 school year include: 5 DPT; 4 OPV/IPV; 2 MMR; and varicella or documentation of chickenpox disease (4 years of age and older) from medical providers.

• A copy of guardianship/custody papers if warranted.

If parents/guardians are unable to complete the registration packet the night of the meeting, an appointment may be scheduled for a later date.

Completed packets and all other required documents need to brought into the school nurse’s office.

Maine state law mandates that kindergarten students must be 5 years of age on or before Oct. 15, 2012. The pre-school program requires students be 4 years of age on or before Oct. 15, 2012.
