Standing up for working people

To the editor:

Once again our senator, Troy Jackson, stood strong and fought hard for the working people of Aroostook County. He voted against the Governor’s budget that will cut jobs, throw people off of health care and, in effect, raise costs for everyone; and take money out of working and middle class Mainers’ pockets. This budget is bad for Maine, for Aroostook County, and for our communities. It will hurt our friends, neighbors and families and cause a long-term economic impact at a time when we are already struggling to get by. Sen. Jackson should be commended for standing up for folks in northern Maine and voting against it.

Troy Jackson has proven time and time again that he has our backs in Augusta, whether it’s fighting to protect Maine loggers and small business owners, standing up for workers’ rights or fighting to protect jobs. The recent budget vote was no different. He stood strong, represented our values and fought hard for his district.

It’s unfortunate to see the Republican majority in Augusta attack workers and betray the values and concerns of rural Maine people. Thanks goodness Sen. Jackson is in the legislature holding them accountable for their actions and fighting against them.

We need more courageous lawmakers like Sen. Jackson in Augusta who fight for the values of rural Maine people.
