The weekend is organized by the newly formed Maine Outdoor Coalition.

“Our goal is to connect friends and neighbors with the beauty and natural resources of our great state while promoting fun, physical activity and good health,” said Coalition member Lindsay Bourgoine of the Appalachian Mountain Club. “We’re fortunate to have a multitude of recreation organizations, providers and companies that are enthusiastic about encouraging people to get outside and take advantage of all that Maine has to offer.”

The Aroostook Youth Ski Festival is open to all kids ages 5–14 and is hosted by the Northern Skiers Club of Caribou. This half-day event is filled with fun games, a cross-country skiing skills park, adventure trail, and more. The cost is $5, and includes a healthy snack, T-shirt and entry to all of the activities. Ski equipment is available to use for free (first come, first served) courtesy of Healthy Hometowns. Children of all ski abilities are encouraged to come.
