Daytona Beach, Fla. and Caribou – Lena Brown Martin, 97, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2012, at Ormond Beach Hospital’s Hospice unit with her family by her side. Lena was born in Caribou on August 16, 1914, the daughter of George and Mabel (Philbrick) Brown. Lena worked as a bookkeeper and buyer for the Martin’s Men’s and Boy’s Clothing Store, which she co-owned with her husband.
Lena is survived by her sons, Stephen Martin of Bowdoinham, Maine, and Dr. Edward Martin of Littleton, New Hampshire. She also leaves behind two grandchildren, Stephen and Matthew, and several great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Lena was predeceased by her husband, Edward G. Martin.
