Student of the Loring Job Corps Center Mike Faisca, center, gets a little hands-on training at the Caribou Public Works Department while mechanic Brian Cook, right, supervises. Cook provided both Faisca and his fellow Job Corps intern Mike Marro tips to hone their welding skills on Monday afternoon.
“Job Corps understands the importance of making the connection between center classrooms and employer workplaces, and Groundhog Job Shadow Day offers our students another opportunity to do just that,” explained Business and Community Liaison and Workplace Coordinator of the Loring Job Corps Center Pamela Buck.
During the week, students will be interning at participating businesses throughout central Aroostook County from approximately 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Participating locations in the Caribou area include the Caribou Library, Caribou Public Works, the American Red Cross, Hogan Tire, Aroostook EMS, the Aroostook Republican, Sen. Susan Collins’ office, Cary Medical Center, Pines Pediatrics, ACAP and the Career Center.
Participating Presque Isle businesses include Northeast Publishing, WAGM, Bonanza, Sen. Snowe’s office, Governors restaurant and Congressman Michael Michaud’s office.
Cote Auto Sales of Limestone is also participating in Groundhog Shadow Day.
