To the editor:
From the cradle to the grave is a span of life given to each one of us. It’s a statement frequently quoted.
The birth of a child is a celebration of life with expectation that he or she will grow in stature and wisdom taught to them by parental guidance and direction from the book that has all the answers – the Holy Bible.
However, the world lies just outside of parental protection, beckoning young folk with every kind of temptation. The enticement is appealing – sex, drugs, alcohol, music, illicit entertainment – the world has it all and the question put to them is, “Don’t you want it too?”
Morals are challenged big time! Many are persuaded and, like an ox being led to the slaughter, find themselves trapped in a lifestyle that is shameful and degrading.
Some along the way remember an early Bible teaching on the parable of the Prodigal Son and ponder the question, “Could I be forgiven like he was?”
Those who will take the prompting of the Holy Spirit will begin anew. It’s the others out there whose hearts have been so seared who will remain in darkness until a light from God’s messengers (that is us) touches them.
Don’t let the politically correct hold you back from speaking out and making a difference in a person’s life by telling them about the salvation of Jesus Christ.
The journey of time takes us through seasons. Some are of joy and laughter, others are of sorrow and struggles. In each of them we need to know the One who will take us through them all, Jesus Christ. He came, He died, He rose again. Accept Him by faith.
As the bells toll and we welcome in a New Year, remember that life is numbered, but eternity is forever and forever. We each will spend eternity in one of two places, heaven or hell. It’s a choice we make here on earth, not after we die.
Time is ticking away. Invest it wisely in your life’s journey of time!
