Sen. Olympia Snowe found herself in the company of Vikings during the Wreaths Across America remembrance ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia on Dec. 10. While two of the Caribou High School alumni work for the senator — Pat Doak, at left,  has been Sen. Snowe’s office manager for 18 years and Brandon Bouchard, at right, has been her press secretary for three years — they bumped into fellow CHS graduate Kristin Durepo during the remembrance ceremony. Goes to show that you never know where or when your next high school reunion will turn up.

Accompanying the senator were her Office Manager Pat Doak, from Caribou, who graduated from Caribou High School in 1990 and her Press Secretary Brandon Bouchard, of Caribou, who graduated from CHS in 2003.

The two CHS alumni encountered quite a surprise during the ceremony as they accidentally came across a bit of a CHS reunion; while accompanying Sen. Snowe, they bumped into Kristin Durepo of Woodland, who graduated from CHS in 1993.

Durepo currently serves as secretary for the Maine State Society in Washington and was the lead volunteer coordinator for Wreaths Across America at Arlington National Cemetery. She works at the Pentagon as a senior Air Force budget analyst for the Under Secretary of the Air Force, International Affairs.

The four took a moment during the patriotic event for discussion and to take a quick photo.

Approximately 90,000 wreaths were laid on graves on Dec. 10, with Sen. Snowe placing a wreath on the grave of former U.S. Senator for Maine and U.S. Secretary of State Edmund Muskie.
