LIMESTONE — Two were transported to Cary Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries on Dec. 15 following a head-on collision on the West Gate Road.
Upon responding to the scene, Limestone Police Chief Stacey Mahan observed one vehicle still in the middle of the road and the other in a ditch.
The two injured parties were riding in a 1999 Pontiac which was involved in a frontal collision with a 2000 Dodge. One of the Pontiac’s occupants had to be removed using the Jaws of Life.
Emergency personnel released the Dodge’s driver after concluding they had sustained only minor injuries.
The names of the three individuals involved have not been released.
Chief Mahan commented that the accident appeared to be weather-related due to the slush and rain on the road at the scene of the accident. Both vehicles were deemed a total loss.
Chief Mahan was assisted by Limestone Police Officers Ron Guillemette and Lucas Hafford, as well as members of the Limestone Fire Department, Caribou Fire and Ambulance Department and officers of the Caribou Police Department.
Chief Mahan also expressed his gratitude to the numerous citizens that stopped at the scene and offered their assistance prior to the arrival of emergency services.
