Rotary Club seeks funding applicants

PRESQUE ISLE – Applications are now available for non-profit groups and organizations to request funds to be raised at the 62nd annual Presque Isle Rotary Club Auction to be held Dec. 1-3, 2009. The Presque Isle Rotary Club has approximately 100 members and works as a global network of community volunteers. The slogan of Rotary is “Service Above Self,” and the club seeks to maintain this very important fund-raising service to support area agencies.

The deadline for submitting a completed application for funding consideration is April 20, 2009. Applications are available from any Presque Isle Rotary Club member or from this year’s Auction Chairs, Nancy Fletcher (768-9595), Floyd Rockholt (764-5701) or Jeff Pangburn (540-6878). All requests will be reviewed and evaluated by the Presque Isle Rotary Club’s board of directors. The Presque Isle Rotary Club maintains the right to reject any and all requests.
The Presque Isle Rotary Club has a long tradition within the greater central Aroostook area of raising funds from the 3-day auction event to support projects for the betterment of the community. Last year’s auction proceeds supported the American Red Cross, Presque Isle Police Department, Presque Isle Fire Department, SAD 1 Pine Street School, Nordic Heritage Center, M & M Ministries and the Special Olympics program in Aroostook County.
Auction chairs Fletcher, Rockholt and Pangburn, along with the P.I. Rotary Club as a whole, is in full planning mode and looking forward to another exciting auction this year. The club could not successfully complete this enormous task without the support of donors, viewers, listeners and bidders. Anyone who is interested in learning more about Rotary and its ideals can visit www.rotary.org or contact any Rotary member.
