The Caribou Fire and Ambulance Department recently held its annual Fire and Ambulance Recognition Night.  Chief Roy Woods recognizes the members of his department for the valuable role they play in the protection of life and property in the city of Caribou as well as the communities of Woodland, New Sweden, Perham, Stockholm, Connor, Westmanland, Madawaska Lake area and Loring Commerce Centre.

“Because the city of Caribou is providing both fire and ambulance protection with personnel who are cross-trained in both fire fighting and emergency medical services, all the communities served by this department have enjoyed a huge reduction in the costs by having all communities share in the costs of operations and training,” said Chief Woods.

Along with Fire and Ambulance protection, the department provides state-of-the-art  High and Low Angle Rescue, Water Rescue, Vehicle Rescue, Air Ambulance Service, Ground Transfer Service and Rapid Interior Rescue for Firefighters, he added.
