‘Crater’ in town could cause a tragedy

To the editor:

The corner of Wright and Bradley streets has a dangerous problem – a deep, wide pothole. This hazardous pothole has made the corner only wide enough for one vehicle to safely pass.

The pothole, or as one resident calls it, ”The Bradley Street Crater,” has been growing for more than a year. During that time, both motorists and pedestrians have been very fortunate that there has not been a serious accident on the corner. So whose responsibility is it to fix the pothole? It seems the city of Caribou cannot fix the hole because of a legal issue.

Last week, a temporary fix was attempted, but by the end of the winter, the hole will be back as big, if not bigger, than before. There has to be a solution for the residents of the two streets, a solution that must be made before a tragedy strikes on that corner.
