PRESQUE ISLE – Girls Investing in their Future Today (GIFT) is a comprehensive Girl Scout program that teaches girls ages 9-11, and their mothers, the basics of financial literacy.     The GIFT program will be taught during a special mother-daughter weekend that is scheduled from 11 a.m. Saturday, April 4 through 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 5 at the University of Maine at Presque Isle.
“GIFT is designed to provide girls with the confidence and skills they need to take charge of their financial lives,” said Samantha Lott, director of program for Girl Scouts of Maine. “The workshops teach girls the basics of earning, saving, spending, and investing, plus mothers and daughters learn to communicate with each other about financial issues such as budgeting, saving for higher education, and goal-setting for future investments.”
Girls in grades 4-6 (Girl Scouts and non-Girl Scouts) and their mothers or other female role model may register by contacting Lott at 1-888-922-4763, or by e-mail at slott@gsmaine.org. The cost is $10 per pair and meals will be provided.
Girl Scouts of Maine builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. For more information, visit www.girlscoutsofmaine.org.
