HOULTON — The Aroostook Huskies rolled into the Shiretown to play the Houlton Knights, looking to claim the Aroostook Football League championship on a sunny, but cool Saturday afternoon. The crowd was large and enthusiastic at Bob Ruth Field.

Caribou’s active roster was diminished by injuries and the Knights were far from 100 percent.
“We knew Caribou’s tendencies, they are a good team,” said Houlton Knights coach Brian Reynolds. “We needed our team to play flawlessly to win.”
At the half, the Knights led 19-0.
The Huskies would get on the board in the fourth quarter to make the score 39-6.
The clock wound down and the Knights picked up the win and the AFL title, 45-6.
Houlton assistant coach Bill Alderson said, “Caribou played tough and hung around for a bit, but adjustments were made and the team responded. It was a lot of fun and absolutely satisfying to watch.”
