LIMESTONE — Ground breaking of the new Limestone Manor facility will have to wait until spring, Limestone’s Town Manager Donna Bernier informed the selectpeople during their meeting on Nov. 2, due to seasonal transportation constraints.
While that piece of economic development has been put on tempory hold, Bernier also informed the selectpeople that the Downtown Revitalization Committee has sent out their questionnaires to find out, directly, what Limestone’s residents are looking for regarding local businesses, the municipality’s involvement in economic development, their perception of business-hindering factors and a handful of additional questions.
The selectpeople also deliberated on a request from the Town of New Sweden; Bernier informed the board members that New Sweden has requested the use of Limestone’s back-up plow for a temporary period.
As she explained, New Sweden municipal officials are waiting the arrival of their new plow and are looking at ways to keep the streets snow-free in the interim.
While Limestone Public Works Director didn’t seem to object to offering New Sweden assistance (pending miles were properly recorded and the vehicle was returned in the same condition it left) the select people voted to table the issue until a full board was available to vote. Absent from that night’s meeting were selectpeople Jimmy Pelletier and Danny Gahagan, Sr.
The select people also discussed the COPS grant awarded to the town for the Limestone Police Department; they expressed an interest in discussing the grant and requested additional information.
The next meeting of the Limestone Selectpeople is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 16.
