Caribou voting clerks, Brenda Bourgoine, left, and Marilyn Cyr have a combined total of more than 35 years working at the local poll site. Bourgoine said she had worked at the polls for more than 25 years and Cyr stated she had been involved for at least 10 years.

As of 10:10 a.m. Tuesday morning, Caribou City Clerk Jayne Farrin stated that there had been 442 ballots cast. Farrin also said that as of last night there had been approximately 400 absentee ballots received, noting that this figure did not include Tuesday’s mail. Farrin stated that although the number of absentee ballots returned was lower than the last local election and could be attributed to the fact that in the 2009 vote, the state question regarding gay marriage was on that particular ballot.
