Officials with the Maine Health Care Association recently announced that the Caribou Rehab and Nursing Center in Caribou, was recognized as a recipient in this year’s My InnerView’s Excellence in Action awards.
The Excellence in Action award recognizes those nursing homes that achieve high levels of excellence as demonstrated by having overall customer or workforce satisfaction levels that fall with the top 10 percent of My InnerView’s customer database in 2010.
Established in 1973, by founder Albert Cyr, the Caribou Rehab and Nursing Center, located at 10 Bernadette Street, continues to provide service under the direction of the Cyr family.
“This is the second time we have received this award (the first being in 2007),” stated Phil Cyr. “We thank our staff for their excellent work. “We received this award because of their dedication and hard work, it is a tribute to staff members and we are honored to be recognized,” Cyr added.
Caribou Rehab and Nursing Center provides care for both long-term care residents and skilled rehab patients. The recent award was in response to long-term care surveys completed by families of long-term care residents. “We offer our own skilled rehab survey to patients/families and we receive a response of 95 percent for excellence,” stated Cyr.
The Excellence in Action awards are presented exclusively to My InnerView clients. Qualifying nursing homes (nearly 5,500 nationwide) must have completed a customer (resident or family) or workforce (employee) satisfaction survey in 2010, achieved a minimum of 10 responses with a minimum 30 percent response rate and scored in the top 10 percent of qualifying facilities on the question: “What is your recommendation of this facility to others:” or “What is your recommendation of this facility as a place to work,” in terms of the percentage of respondents rating the facility as “excellent.”
The 2010-11 award recognizes 539 nursing homes that have made a commitment to continuous quality improvement and have successfully made quality a priority to better serve the needs of their customers and employees. The customer award was earned by 410 nursing homes and 263 nursing facilities received the workforce award.
