Over the years, though it has only been twelve, I have been raised in Presque Isle, Maine. There are many reasons I am glad to live in Presque Isle. I am so thankful to have been raised in such a peaceful and pleasant town. Yes it may be small, but you feel like you belong and the town does many things and has a lot of opportunities for its citizens. There is a lot of room to raise your children; instead of not being able to let them do anything (like in large cities) and they can go out and you don’t have to worry.
One of the many great things Presque Isle offers is the parks, such as Mantle Lake Park or Riverside Park. The parks are kept clean and are well taken care of. The parks are a great place to have parties and family gatherings. They are also very beautiful, and you can’t see some of these things in nature anywhere else. They are there at no cost, and a lot of times Presque Isle has many festivals and picnics or special events that take place at these parks.
Another great thing that Presque Isle offers is the recreation center. Presque Isle’s Rec Center has many great things to offer. They hold some type of sport all year round, so the kids are encouraged to be active, no matter what the weather is. They hold many programs in the summer while the kids are out of school, such as arts and crafts, soccer, baseball, and many other activities. The Rec Center also has father-daughter dances, mother-son dances, and other events so families can be closer.
One of my favorite things about Presque Isle is the library. The library has a wide variety of books and has many events arranged for the different ages and the levels of education. They offer tutoring services, which I think is great for those in need of help with their education. I also think that the tutoring services are great, because these people of Presque Isle want to reach out to the next generation and build a good future for them. The library also holds events that teach you how to specialize in something that you may want to do such as genealogy, tutoring, sign language, and many other things. They also have people come in and read or do activities with the younger ones, and have clubs and groups for the older ones. I think that our library is a great thing for Presque Isle, and holds many opportunities.
Overall I think that Presque Isle really cares about the people that live here and work here. They help those in need, such as the soup kitchens, shelters, and fundraisers. The people of Presque Isle always find a way to help you out. You pretty much know everybody, so you feel safe and comfortable in the environment. No matter where you come from, the people here will reach out to you in anyway they can. Presque Isle offers many great services and opportunities and I couldn’t wish to be raised in a better town than Presque Isle, Maine!
