FIFTH-GRADE STUDENTS Mitchell Cannon and Brandon Corey paired up at Washburn Elementary School to work on their Newspapers in Education advertisement.
“Throughout her years at Washburn District High School, Elizabeth has distinguished herself both in the classroom and with the high school yearbook,” said Assistant Principal Ron Ericson. “She has held numerous positions on the yearbook staff and is currently the editor. Elizabeth has proven herself as a positive leader in the school and the community, as well. She is very deserving of this recognition.”
Gagnon, Ericson and other award winners and their principals will attend an Honors Luncheon at the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor Saturday, April 4 at 1 p.m.
The Honors Luncheon recognizes these outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of five $1,000 scholarships in the names of Horace O. McGowan and Richard W. Tyler, both former Maine principals and executive directors of the Association.
The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 140 Maine public and private high schools by the member principals of the MPA, the professional association that represents Maine’s school administrators.
