The 23rd annual Charity Challenge was another huge success.
The event was held on Saturday, July 16 at Limestone Country Club and on Sunday, July 17 at Long Lake Country Club.
On Saturday the team of Jerry McLaughlin, Judy Dombrowski, Dave Thibodeau and Gary St. Peter won the low gross in the morning tournament. They ended with a 4 under 32. The same foursome took low net honors in the afternoon.
Chris, Dennis, Dan and Tim Richards took low net in the morning tournament and in the afternoon event it was Kelly O’Mara, AJ Cloukey, Gary Nadeau, Mark Nadeau and Tom Wire winning with a 5 under 31.
30 teams played at Limestone on Saturday.
On Sunday a record number 24 teams signed up for the morning session and 16 more played in the afternoon.
Paul Bridreau, Conrad Cyr, Rene Voisine and Roger Ouellette won both sessions shooting 6 under in the morning and 8 under in the afternoon. On the net side Odette Levesque, Yvette Michaud, Maggie Mahan and T.O. Ouellette were the net winners and in the afternoon session it was Ron McEntee, Dunc McKenzie, Gary Nadeau, AJ Cloukey and Shawn Cunningham winning.
Tournament Director Rene Cloukey wants to thank Craig Phair and Pete Weatherhead of Limestone Country Club and Al and Margaret Hebert of Long Lake Country Club for their hospitality and donation of the courses. Both courses were in excellent shape and plans are underway for next year’s event.
All money raised goes to Aroostook Special Olympics. Almost $50,000 has been donated to Aroostook Special Olympics in the last 22 years.
