On May 26, Caribou High School held its annual Academic Awards Night, organized by the Caribou Chapter of the National Honor Society and funded by the Caribou School Department.
Caribou High School students recognized at the annual Academic Awards Night, held on May 26, for achieving highest honors (GPA of 94 or higher) are, in front, from left: Sare Damboise, Casey Nichols and Danielle Violette. Christian Sleeper, president of the Caribou NHS, Duncan Flynn and Laura Collins served as chairpersons of the organizing committee. Other committee members included Caleb Chapman, Kyle McEwen, Kayla Collins, Sarah Peterson, Ethan Stetson and Kenneth Atcheson, adviser to the National Honor Society.
Individual awards were accepted by members of the Caribou High School Mathematic Team during the school’s Academic Night held on May 26. During the awards ceremony Mark Jones, CHS principal, complimented the students on their academic achievements, urging them to continue to strive for success. Jones and David Wakana, assistant principal awarded academic achievement certificates, principal’s awards and academic excellence pins to the CHS students in grades 9-12, based upon their honor roll attainment for three consecutive ranking periods.
Representatives of academic disciplines for Caribou High School presented awards in the following areas. English Language Arts, English Book award; mathematics, social studies, including the Daughter’s of the American Revolution Award for Excellence in History and the Hitchings/Novy Memorial Award. Science awards included the Bausch and Lomb Honorary Science Award for Exceptional Promises in the Sciences; the Stephen Bilinski Memorial Award; and the CHS Science Department Award. World Languages: Academic Excellence in French; Language Appreciation in French; Academic Excellence in Spanish and Language Appreciation in Spanish; National French Exam winners in French 2, 3, 4 and 5. Other academic awards included Physical Educational and Wellness; College of the Atlantic, Phil Delta Kappa and Springfield College Book Awards; CHS Transition Center Awards and individual awards to the members of the Mathematic Team.

Frank McElwain, superintendent of RSU 39 and Loris Brewer, assistant superintendent participated in the awarding of the Senior Honor clothing.
Students and guests were treated to an old-fashioned ice cream social following the awards ceremony.
