BANGOR — United States Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty II announced yesterday that Curtis Todd Zetterman, 48 of Caribou, was sentenced on June 6 in U.S. District Court in Bangor to five-years probation for possession of a firearm after having been committed to a mental institution. Zetterman pleaded guilty on April 29, 2010.
Court records reveal that in April 2006, Zetterman had been involuntarily admitted to a mental hospital pursuant to non emergency authorization issued by a Maine District Court Judge.
In October 2008, police received information that Zetterman had pointed a gun at another individual. Police questioned Zetterman and subsequently found a loaded .22 caliber magnum Derringer in Zetterman’s apartment.
The investigation was concluded jointly by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobaco, Firearms and Explosives and the Caribou Police Department.
