LIMESTONE — Breaking from the dreary winter, spring brings with it an array of colors — the pale greens and brown of fresh buds on leaves, the light pinks of flowering trees and, of course, the neon orange and yellow vests that signify the arrival of a new construction season.
A new name has emerged in the world of asphalt and aggregates this year: Northern Maine Paving, based out of the Loring Commerce Centre in Limestone.
Completing a couple of projects last spring and summer, the company has hit the asphalt running meeting paving needs throughout Aroostook County.
Managed by Ryan Pelletier of Frenchville, the 31 employees of Northern Maine Paving are currently ensuring that the company produces quality materials and finished products for their customers. As a licensed general contractor, employees of NMP are able to see a project through from start to finish.
According to Pelletier, NMP provides the customer all phases of construction without any subcontracting, which means the company has the capability to dig out a home’s foundation and pave the driveway at the same time.
“We’re a general contractor from start to finish, and what’s nice about being a general contractor is that there’s no subcontractors involved,” he said.
Having just one contractor on a project from start to finish provides customers with optimum value.
While NMP is currently completing a few of major projects in northern Maine — 65 miles of maintenance mix in northern Aroostook County, milling and resurfacing Main Street in Van Buren and Fort Kent, five miles in Oakfield and 11 miles of overlay in Madawaska, St. David and the Grand Isle area — the business is also looking for new residential and commercial customers as well.
“What’s nice about the full services offered by [NMP] is that you can get one complete quote for your project instead of having to call three different contractors for the same work,” Pelletier said.
Pelletier and NMP owners Daniel and Allen Belanger have over 60 years combined experience as suppliers and earthwork installers of asphalt and aggregates.
“We’re happy to be here [at the Loring Commerce Centre] and we’re definitely eager to serve northern, central and southern Aroostook County,” Pelletier said.
