BAR HARBOR — Viking and Wildcat varsity track and field athletes made the trip to Mount Desert Island Saturday for the Penobscot Valley Conference Large School Championship.

The Caribou girls, with 95 points, managed a third-place effort, with PI (one point) placing ninth. For the boys, Caribou (57) was sixth and PI again ninth (25.33).
The Bangor girls and Brewer boys won team championships. Other schools participating were Old Town, Hampden Academy, Ellsworth, MDI and Hermon.
The Viking girls took four of the first five positions in the 1,600 race walk. Emily Soderberg was the event winner in 8:02.89, with Paige Small taking second in 8:38.65, Marigan Doody fourth in 9:22.93 and Nicole Cyr fifth in 9:27.8.
Also in the girls’ meet, leading the way for the Vikings were Olivia Sleeper, third in the 400 in 1:01.83, fourth in the 100 in 13.47 seconds and fourth in the 200 in 27.57 seconds; and Morgan Swan, third in the shot put at 33 feet, 5 inches, third in the javelin at 88 feet, 1 inch and sixth in the discus at 80 feet.
Others scoring points were Reanna Plourde, sixth in the 100 in 13.8 seconds; Katie Plourde, fourth in the 800 in 2:35.51; Mackenzie Belyea, fourth in the 3,200 in 12:27.52; Sarae Sager, third in the 100 hurdles in 16.88 seconds and fifth in the 300 hurdles in 49.7 seconds; Kelly Kashian, fourth in the high jump at 4 feet, 8 inches; Hannah Hebert, fifth in the long jump at 14 feet, 5-1/4 inches; and Sam Murchison, second in the javelin at 88 feet, 1 inch.
In the relays, Caribou’s 4 X 800 team was third, the 4 X 100 team fourth, the 4 X 400 team fifth.
Kayla Richards was the only member of the Wildcats to place. She was sixth in the triple jump at 31 feet, 8 inches.
For boys, Caribou was paced by Christian Sleeper, who won the 1,600-meter run by posting a time of 4:41.76.

The Vikings also took four of the top six positions in the 1,600-meter race walk, as D.J. Flynn won in 7:56.46, Josh Kovach was second in 8:11.14, Jake Michaud third in 8:31.15 and Kyle McEwen sixth in 9:08.16.
Others registering points for Caribou were Matt Till, sixth in the 200 in 24.38 seconds and sixth in the 400 in 54.28 seconds; Ron Lund, fifth in the 800 in 2:13.46; Flynn, fifth in the 3,200 in 10:41.17; Brendan Wood, fifth in the 110 hurdles in 18.19 seconds; Nick Dobson, sixth in the 110 hurdles in 18.55 seconds; Lance Jandreau, second in the pole vault at 11 feet; and Jake Maher, sixth in the discus at 105 feet, 6 inches.
Caribou’s 4 X 800 relay team took fourth place.
For Presque Isle, Logan Good was sixth in the 100 in 12.1 seconds, Matt Eager third in the 3,200 in 10:29.16; Mitchell Ayotte fourth in the high jump at 5 feet, 4 inches; David Paradis fourth in the pole vault at 10 feet; Trey Stewart, sixth in the shot put at 37 feet, 1-3/4 inches; Stephen Goulet, third in the discus at 114 feet, 2 inches; and Justin Good, fourth in the javelin at 125 feet, 6 inches.
The Wildcats’ 4 X 100 relay team placed fifth in 47.23 seconds.
