Caribou squads impressive at MDI relay meet

BAR HARBOR — The early-spring tradition of the MDI Relays continued this year as the Caribou and Limestone-MSSM track and field squads made the trip to compete on Saturday.

The Caribou girls managed a second-place performance, with the boys team coming in third. Emily Soderberg established a new meet record in the race walk with a time of 8:03.68.

The Limestone-MSSM boys picked up four points on the afternoon, while the Eagle girls failed to register a single point.

The Old Town girls and Hampden boys capture the team titles. Other schools taking part included Brewer, Orono, Ellsworth, Central of East Corinth, George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill, Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln, Calais, Foxcroft Academy, Hermon, John Bapst, Calvary Chapel, Penquis of Milo, Sumner of East Sullivan, Jonesport-Beals, Bucksport, Machias and Narraguagus of Cherryfield. More than 800 athletes competed during the day.
