Bengtson, Robert Erwin, 66, of New Sweden, on April 8, 2011. A celebration of his life will be held 2 p.m., April 23, at Gustaf Adolph Lutheran Church.


AR Robert BengtsonAmerican Flag ColorNEW SWEDEN – Robert Erwin Bengtson, died peacefully April 8, 2011. He was born Nov. 30, 1944, in Caribou, the son of Erwin and Peggy (Peers) Bengtson.

He attended local schools and graduated from Caribou High School in 1962. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after more than 20 years of service. He will be remembered for his love of church, family, friends, music and gardening.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, are two daughters, Denise Guinan and husband, Joe, of Ashton, Pa., and Ann-ette Bengtson of Milford, Conn.; one stepdaughter, Becky Gove; one stepson, Robbie Bengtson and wife, Rondie; eight grandsons, Danny, Kevin and Sean Guinan, Mark and Steven Beers, Dustin Bengtson, Ron-nie and Robby Hoyt; also two great-granddaughters; two brothers, Wayne Bengtson and companion, Linda Clifford, and Rodney Bengtson and wife, Michelle; sister, Rhonda Higgins and husband, Howard; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Janette (Richards) Bengtson, after 17 years of marriage.

A celebration of his life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 23, at Gustaf Adolph Lutheran Church with Pastor Gordon Compton officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Gustaf Adolph Lutheran Church, New Sweden, ME 04762 or to a charity of your choice.
