The Aroostook County Republican Committee will be facilitating caucuses for Central Aroostook cities and towns that have not yet caucused on Saturday, April 23, at the Caribou Inn and Convention Center beginning at 1:30 p.m.

“This will be the second of several caucus events held throughout the County,” said Hayes Gahagan, former State Senator and recently elected chairman of the Aroostook County Republican Committee. “We were in Northern Aroostook last month and facilitated caucuses in Fort Kent and Frenchville; this month we’re in Central Aroostook, next month, we’ll be in Southern Aroostook. We’ll continue this monthly cycle to help the growth and expansion of republican town and city committees throughout the County,” Gahagan added.
“All politics are local” said Gahagan, “the Aroostook County Republican Committee has a goal to build down and organize in communities and neighborhoods to seek out traditional small-government conservatives at the grass-roots level who understand that we must control state spending and taxation.”
“Like the Northern Aroostook regional caucus last month, these events will draw out people willing to take a stand for smaller, less expensive government, less taxes, less spending, individual rights and free enterprise,” said Gahagan.
The caucus events will follow the monthly meetings of the Aroostook County Republican Committee and the “County Connections” luncheon featuring business and government leaders from Augusta and around the County. This month’s speaker will be Robert Clark, executive director of the Northern Maine Development Commission.
“The Aroostook County Republican Committee is an all-volunteer organization,” stated Gahagan. “We provide an opportunity for tax-paying citizens to join together to promote conservative ideas and ideals within the Republican Party. A recent example of our grass-roots activity is www.BuyTheMural.com whereby we’re raising voluntary contributions to allow the Gov. LePage to reimburse the Department of Labor so the state of Maine can take full and clear title to the controversial labor mural — without any federal strings attached.”
