Caribou Family History Center open

The Caribou Family History Center is a genealogy library dedicated to helping its patrons research their family.

The library is open to the entire community and nearly all of their services are free. Both expert genealogists and absolute beginners will find tools and materials to help them: pedigree charts and other forms, computers with Internet access, birth and other vital records, census records, church records, and other records in book and microform formats.

A helpful staff is always available to suggest ideas, trouble shoot pedigree obstacles, guide research in various directions and to help with connecting to other researchers. The Caribou library specializes in Maine, New Brunswick, and Acadian research; however, the library has access to records for ancestors across the world. Various members of the staff are professional researchers, having had special training and research experience in all regions of the United States, Mexico, Canada and Europe.

Those who are interested in starting their family history but are unsure of how to begin are encouraged to come and ask for an orientation to the library and are invited to enjoy a guided, hands-on introduction. These services are available during all hours of operation. The Caribou Family History Center is open Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6–9 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

The library is located at 67 Paris Snow Drive in Caribou, inside the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building. You can call the library at 492-4381 or Salena Ashton, director, at 492-0644 for further questions.
