At the March 3 meeting of the Caribou Chamber of Commerce and Industry board of directors it was voted on and approved to formally separate the CCC&I into two organizations — the Caribou Chamber of Commerce and the Caribou Economic Growth Council.
New articles of incorporation have now been submitted to recognize the new chamber of commerce entity. New bylaws have also been written and voted on by the board of directors.
A vote was also taken by the current board to make the director of the Caribou Area Chamber of Commerce a “city position” employed by the city of Caribou and responsible to a seven-member board of directors.
The CCC&I Board also voted for co-tenancy with Caribou Nylander Museum on South Main St. The moving date will be in the spring.
The current board also discussed and approved a Caribou Area Chamber of Commerce rate structure. This new rate structure will soon be sent out to the present membership. Attractive new membership rates and “membership benefits” have been implemented by the board.
In other action, the Caribou Economic Growth Council has been formed to handle the economic and community development functions for Caribou, Maine. Formal bylaws have been written and voted on by the board of directors. The CEGC director will also be employed by the city of Caribou and responsible to a seven-member board of directors.
