“At Halfway Home Pet Rescue, we have a guy named George who is really a monkey” said HHPR President Norma Milton. She also describes George as a lovable, clean, happy and healthy 5-month-old kitten who is neutered, has been leukemia tested, received all his shots, and is cleared of any parasites. “He loves being where he is and all the attention he can get,” Milton said, “the only thing he would like better would be to have a permanent home of his own — hopefully with kids, cats and dogs to play his wonderful tricks on.” According to Milton, George will try anything at least once; the kitty felt that once was enough after his curtain-climbing debut, “as it sort of looked like Mt. Katahdin to him,” she said. HHPR is a 501c3 corporation and a state-licensed animal rescue. The shelter has several beautiful adult cats ready for adoption, plus their “monkey” George and four adoptable kittens that will be ready to take home in about a month. All of HHPR’s adult cats are spay/neutered before adoption and kitten are adopted with a spay/neuter voucher. Volunteers ask the community to please continue to help with their collection of returnable bottles and cans at 88 Bennett Drive and the collection jars at various area business. “These two projects are the foundation of our massive medical and spay/neuter program,” Milton explained.
