The Caribou Vikings’ win over Houlton last Tuesday, coupled with Saturday’ home victory over Hermon (see story on Page 6) has the team at 7-1 and in seventh place in Eastern Maine Class B heading into tonight’s important game against the Wildcats in Presque Isle.

PI is also 7-1 and in ninth place in the division.
Washburn handled Limestone-MSSM and Greater Houlton Christian Academy last week and is fourth in EM Class D at 6-0. Fort Fairfield is currently fifth at 5-4 following Saturday’s home win over Easton. The Tigers halted a two-game losing streak as they lost earlier in the week to Central Aroostook and Madawaska.
Limestone-MSSM is still winless at 0-9 following losses last week to Van Buren and Washburn.
Summaries of boys’ games played through Monday, Jan. 10 are as follows:
Washburn 69, GHCA 39 – At the University of Maine at Presque Isle Monday, the Beavers used a 17-10 run in the third quarter to break open a close game and defeat Greater Houlton Christian Åcademy.
Washburn stayed undefeated at 6-0 behind Mitchell Worcester’s 25 points and 13 more from Jordan McLaughlin.
Ethan Holmes scored 14 points for the Eagles, whose record dropped to 3-6 on the season.
Fort Fairfield 56, Easton 51 – The Tigers avenged an early-season loss in Easton by outscoring the Bears 22-16 over the final eight minutes in Fort Fairfield Saturday.
Travis Noyes had a huge game with 22 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists to pace Fort, which improved to 5-4. Jahleel Williams netted 14 points in the win.
Turner scored 12 points and Clark and Cody Tompkins tossed in 10 each for the Bears.
Van Buren 41, Limestone-MSSM 40 – The Eagles came close to reeling in their first win of the season at home Friday, but the Crusaders’ Eric LaPlante hit two free throws with 28 seconds to key his team’s win.
Aaron St. Pierre notched 15 points for Limestone-MSSM, which had bolted to a 12-1 advantage after the first quarter. Austin Dow-Smith added eight points for the 0-9 Eagles.
Madawaska 64, Fort Fairfield 56 – It was the Deejay Gendreau show at Madawaska Thursday, and the Tigers couldn’t keep up. The Owl senior had 24 points, 18 rebounds, eight assists and five blocked shots to key his team to the win.
Noyes scored 20 points, including a 10-for-10 performance from the foul line, to lead the Tigers.
Washburn 102, Limestone-MSSM 52 – Worcester and McLaughlin combined for 65 points as the Beavers rolled past the Eagles in Limestone last Wednesday.
Worcester had 39 points and McLaughlin 26 in the victory.
St. Pierre scored 12 and Cody Bryant 10 for Limestone-MSSM.
Caribou 48, Houlton 34 – The Vikings won at home last Wednesday behind Matt Till’s 20 points.
Stephen St. Peter had 14 more points for Caribou, who led by nine after the first quarter and kept the margin between 10 and 18 points the rest of the way.
Nick Guiod had eight points for the Shires.
Central Aroostook 61, Fort Fairfield 58 – The Panthers held off the hard-charging Tigers last Tuesday in Fort Fairfield behind Kelly’s 5-for-6 effort from the foul line over the final minutes of play.
He scored a team-high 19 points, while Logan McLaughlin had 18 and York 12 for CA.
Noyes had 29 points, 12 assists and eight rebounds and Andrew Lewis netted eight points and hauled in nine rebounds for the Tigers.
