Looking for something different to do? Short days and long evenings getting you down? The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 136 of Stockholm is planning an event that just might be the cure for those winter doldrums. On Saturday, Feb. 26 Auxiliary members will be hosting a Mardi Gras Night at the Legion Hall in Stockholm.

According to Kathy Robinson, Auxiliary president, the evening will begin with a dinner featuring jambalaya, gumbo, red beans and rice and other dishes famous in the ‘Big Easy.’ Following dinner there will be a variety of desserts available, as well as the traditional Mardi Gras, “King” Cake.

Robinson stated that the ‘baby’ hidden inside the King cake will determine who will be the King and Queen of Mardi Gras Night and that there will be other surprises in store for the lucky individuals who have tickets to this event.

The Little Lisa Band, will provide Cajun music for the evening’s dancing and entertainment. Masks and beads will be provided to make sure the Mardi Gras celebration is authentic and specialty beverages will be available.

Tickets for the Feb.26 Mardi Gras Night are $12 and available now from any Stockholm American Legion Auxiliary member or by contacting Robinson at 896-7909.

Don’t miss the chance to be a part of the mystical experience of Mardi Gras — secure your tickets early.
